About

  • I am a highly motivated former teacher who could talk endlessly about the life-changing power of accessible, authentic learning experiences (but I'll leave that topic open for future conversation).

It’s been three years since I left the classroom, and to say I’ve grown is an understatement.

My first year as a corporate instructional designer at DISH Network was a whirlwind. Not only did I teach myself Articulate Rise and Storyline, the Adobe creative suite, and the ins and outs of SCORM files and LMS, but my performance was also skyrocketing.

Within three months, I exceeded the goals set for training experience. And within six months, I was collaborating with the COO and Head of Performance & Execution to design a self-paced, interactive course for executives, preparing them to create the year’s OKRs and KPIs.

After 12 months, I received the Director’s Award for being the Training organization’s top performer for the year, and I also earned a promotion where I jumped three levels into leadership. Then, only one year later, I was promoted again.

Now, as the Training & Internal Communications Manager for Customer Experience Operations at DISH Network, I understand instructional design in a way that's nothing short of fluency. A word nerd and voracious learner at heart, I’m incredibly passionate about what I do, and my high expectations, creativity, and attention to detail lead to exceptional results.

  • Everyone can learn. That’s not a belief—it’s a fact. The issue, I’ve found, is accessibility. Some learners struggle with content that is dry and not connected to anything they already know. Some learners don’t understand why the content or skill is necessary for them. Some learners have amazing assets, like multilingualism, but the existing learning design does not leverage or celebrate these qualities. It is not the role of the learner to figure out how to learn the material; it is the role of the instructional designer to meet learners where they are at. It is the role of the instructional designer to develop supports that assist learners as they create their own understanding.

  • I am intrinsically motivated, driven by my passion for equity in education as well as my determination for success. I thrive when I have balanced opportunities to work independently and to collaborate with others. Even though failure sometimes hurts, it is often a necessary step in the development process, and I am inviting to any and all feedback. I am a lifelong learner, and I will always strive to learn more and be better. I guarantee that I will be one of the most dedicated employees you have.

Well, that was fun.
